A cancer survivor, a vocalist, a saxophonist — and a beacon of hope for audiences across Alberta and beyond.

"My heart is singing. Concerts at the Jubilee or the Winspear have not inspired me as much as Colleen's performance. God bless people like Colleen for bringing so much happiness to those who no longer have the ability to live and function in their own homes.
— Linda Glover, a fan from Edmonton
Cancer survivor Colleen Frances Lazoruk has been a staple in the Alberta music industry for over 52 years. A vocalist, whistler and saxophonist, she sets out to bring her musical message of hope to the world. Whether she's playing an intimate gathering or a larger venue, Colleen fills the space with grace and joy, engaging every listener with her soulful vocals and vibrant stage presence.
Colleen grew up in Rycroft, a small village in Northern Alberta. From a younger age, she knew that singing would be her lifelong passion. Her musical experience started in 1985, when she formed The Lazoruk Sisters Duo with her sister Shari. Together, they recorded their first album, "Expressions of the Heart", with songs written by local artists.
In 1995, as a fundraiser for the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Colleen volunteered her time and expertise to produce and market "When I Sing", a CD of positive music for cancer patients and their families. "Christmas with Colleen" was produced in 2011 as a follow-up fundraiser album.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these albums go to the Cross Cancer Institute, helping support various programs Colleen has at heart. To date, this project has raised just over $42,000.
Today, Colleen entertains for many legions, senior facilities, weddings, anniversaries, memorial services, conferences, private functions and fundraisers. Her recordings reach audiences worldwide.
Colleen is honoured and delighted by the enthusiastic response to her music, and very much enjoys interacting with her public in person, but also through social media on Facebook and ReverbNation. So don't hesitate to get in touch and join the discussion!
